This trip started in a decision to, once again, live out a minor dream of going on a trip to the USA. This is my 4th trip to the USA and again I find myself concentrating mainly on California, I guess that makes sense for a TV/movie groupie like myself. The difference this time is that I won't be visiting L.A. during summer when most shows are on hiatus and therefore there is almost no filming to watch.
I originally considered attending the Adobe MAX and that made me start looking into flights as soon as April for flights at the end of September to allow time for recuperation before the start of the convention. At the start of May I learned the cost of this convention (about $1,300) and decided to give it up for now but a little after that my dad mentioned he'd like to go to the USA as well.
I made some inquiries and found out that the Miramar Airshow will take place at the start of October in San-Diego. As my dad loves planes and airshows this had possibilities as a first point of interest in our journey together, alone.
The decision was made, the tickets were ticketed and since then I've been busy planning the trip through several major route changes among which was a visit to the Utah/Arizona canyons and parks (Zion, Bryce, Grand Canyon etc.), a thought of spending a week in Los Angeles and others.
The final route (with the ever present possibility of making changes on the go) will be published in the next post.
